Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating crimes against persons, property, and unsolved cases.
About CID
The Criminal Investigations Division investigates crimes against persons, crimes against property, and cases that remain unsolved.
CID works to review reported incidents, evaluate leads, and conduct follow-up investigations with the goal of bringing cases to a conclusion.
How Cases Are Assigned
1. Report Review
When a report is filed with the police department, it is first approved by a supervisor and then forwarded to the records division.
2. CID Evaluation
If the case involves an unsolved crime, it is sent to the Captain over CID for review and evaluation of its potential solvability.
3. Detective Assignment
If enough factors are present, the case is assigned to a detective for further investigation.
4. Investigation Updates
Once assigned, the investigator is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation and keeping the victim informed about the status of the case.
Focused on Follow-Up
CID provides detailed investigative follow-up, case review, and ongoing communication to help move cases toward resolution.
