About Us

Planning & Development Services is comprised of a number of different departments responsible for services including Land Use, Development, Engineering, Building Regulations, Comprehensive Planning, Floodplain Management, GIS/Mapping and Community Development.  

Planning & Development Services is driven to make our community great in partnership with developers, builders, property owners, and the public at large.  We work with citizens and community leaders to build a consensus on how the City of Gatesville should grow by coordinating of a variety of planning functions that range from facilitating a vision for the future to reviewing all new development proposals to ensure compatibility to the City’s adopted Comprehensive Plan. 

Mission

Our mission is to promote a positive city image and quality of life  and place through:

• Promotion and implementation of the 2020 Comprehensive Plan;
• Proactive, data-driven, community-based planning;
• Preservation/enhancement of the City's tax base through quality community development and revitalization;
• Planned and managed municipal infrastructure and capital improvement projects;
• Implementation of safe and proper construction, engineering and environmental standards through the permits and inspection process;

Goals

• Implement ordinances, resolutions and policies for the promotion of sustainable growth and compatible land uses while respecting property owner rights.

• Support the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment in conformance with the City’s Code of Ordinances and State Local Government Code.

• Strive for excellence in the daily performance of meeting expectations and customer service needs by providing efficient and accurate services to the public.
