Sexual assault is a violent crime in which the assailant uses sex to inflict violence, humiliation, and/or control on the victim. This type of assault can include rape, incest, child molestation, marital rape, exposure, and voyeurism.

Many victims thought it could never happen to them. The fact is that sexual assault can happen to anyone. Sexual assault victims can range in age from a few months old to women in their 90's.

Family violence is a problem that is growing in the United States. It has become the largest cause of injury to women in the United States. This staggering statistic doesn’t even touch the cases where children and men are the victims.

There are ways to protect yourself from domestic violence. Many refer to this as a Personal Safety Plan. This is a way to stay safe until you can leave, and a way to get yourself and your children out of the house.

If you even suspect that a child has been neglected or abused in any way, it is your legal and moral responsibility to report it to the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.

Once you make the report of suspected abuse or neglect, your report is confidential and immune from criminal and civil liability as long as the report was made in good faith and without malice. In other words, as long as you did not lie in order to hurt someone, you are protected.
